This award-winning project incorporates three locations in the park: the vegetable garden, the raised garden, and the native garden in the promotion of sustainable gardening practices. The focus is healthy eating from the vegetable garden and habitat diversity and ecosystem building in the Native Meadow Gardens. Friends of Wolf Trap will provide volunteers and assist in planting and procurement of seed and plants.
The vegetable gardens supply fresh produce to restaurants on-site and to local food pantries while reducing Wolf Trap’s carbon footprint. These efforts set an example for globally responsible sustainable gardening practices in public spaces.
