Stiltgrass Volunteer Event
Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts needs your help Saturday, Sept 7th (9am-noon) to remove Japanese stiltgrass from the Meadow Garden located right across from the Filene Center box office.
The garden was established in 2012 to support pollinators and wildlife by planting over 21,000 native flowers and grasses (41 species). Japanese stiltgrass is an invasive species that can push out native plants, and late summer is the perfect time to pull it before it re-seeds.
No experience necessary. Training on how to ID and remove stiltgrass will be provided. Please bring water, garden gloves, insect repellent, and sun protection.
This event is organized by the Friends of Wolf Trap and Fairfax Master Naturalists.
If you are an FMN, record service hours to S263: Wolf Trap Stewardship Projects.
